SESAR Innovation Days
Client: SESAR JU
Sector: Aviation innovation & air traffic management
Location: Bled, Slovenia
Date: Annually since 2018
The SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs) are the annual flagship event of the SESAR Joint Undertaking, a European partnership responsible for modernizing the Air Traffic Management (ATM) system. SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) was established to tackle the complexity of European airspace and contribute to a smarter, more sustainable, and more efficient air traffic system for Europe through innovation, research, and technology. The program brings together decades of expertise, funded through EU programs and with a broad network of industry, research, and public stakeholders.
Within this context, the SESAR Innovation Days are a key moment to present progress and results from exploratory and applied research, with a strong focus on future-oriented innovation and long-term vision within ATM. The SIDs differ from other scientific conferences in that they focus not only on paper presentations, but also on facilitating in-depth interaction between academics, industry experts, and policymakers, and showcasing innovative demonstrations and concepts with direct relevance to the future of air traffic management.
The conference lasts several days and attracts around 450 international participants each year. The program includes selected scientific papers via an open call, extensive poster sessions, networking opportunities, and the prestigious presentation of the SESAR Young Scientist Awards, which recognize young researchers in ATM-related research.

In 2025, the SESAR Innovation Days took place from December 1–4 in Lake Bled, Slovenia, organized in collaboration with local partners such as Pipistrel and the University of Ljubljana. This marks the 15th edition of the event, with which the SIDs have developed into an established fixture in the European aviation and research community.
TMAB Business Events has been supporting SESAR for several years in the implementation of the SIDs and plays a crucial role in their operational realization. Our involvement encompasses the entire logistical and organizational coordination so that participants, speakers, and partners can focus fully on the content and interaction of the event.
For the most recent edition, TMAB was responsible for, among other things:
- Contacting all suppliers (venue, catering, transportation, photographer, etc.);
- Full logistical coordination before, during, and after the conference;
- The coordination of setup and dismantling;
- Registration, reception, and cloakroom management;
- On-site management, including speaker and stage registration and supervision;
- Selecting and booking suitable event locations;
- The organization of walking tours and evening dinners;
- The coordination of all travel arrangements for participants, speakers, and partners.

This scope illustrates TMAB's role as an end-to-end event partner, with an integrated approach from strategic preparation to tight operational execution on location, always with an eye for service, flow, and experience.
