SESAR Innovation Days

Client: SESAR JU
Sector: Aviation Innovation & Air Traffic Management
Location: Bled, Slovenia
Date: Annually since 2018

The SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs) are the premier annual event of the SESAR Joint Undertaking, a European public-private partnership responsible for modernizing the Air Traffic Management (ATM) system. SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) was established to address the complexity of European airspace and, through innovation, research, and technology, contribute to a smarter, more sustainable, and more efficient air traffic system for Europe. The program brings together decades of expertise, funded via EU programs and supported by a broad network of industry, research, and public stakeholders.

Within this context, the SESAR Innovation Days serve as a key milestone to present the progress and results of exploratory and applied research, with a strong focus on forward-looking innovation and a long-term vision within ATM. What sets the SIDs apart from other scientific conferences is their focus not only on paper presentations, but also on facilitating in-depth interaction between academics, industry experts, and policymakers, alongside showcasing innovative demonstrations and concepts with direct relevance to the future of air traffic management.

The conference spans multiple days and attracts approximately 450 international participants annually. The program features selected scientific papers chosen through an open call, extensive poster sessions, networking moments, and the prestigious presentation of the SESAR Young Scientist Awards, which recognize young researchers in ATM-related fields.

In 2025, the SESAR Innovation Days took place from December 1–4 in Lake Bled, Slovenia, organized in collaboration with local partners such as Pipistrel and the University of Ljubljana. This marked the 15th edition of the event, cementing the SIDs as a staple in the European aviation and research community.

TMAB Business Events has supported SESAR for several years in executing the SIDs, playing a crucial role in operational delivery. Our involvement includes complete logistical and organizational coordination so that participants, speakers, and partners can fully focus on the content and interaction of the event.

For the most recent edition, TMAB was responsible for, among other things:

  • Contacting all suppliers (venue, catering, transport, photographer, etc.);
  • Full logistical coordination before, during, and after the conference;
  • Coordinating the build-up and teardown;
  • Registration, reception, and cloakroom management;
  • On-site management, including speaker and stage registration and assistance;
  • Selecting and booking suitable event venues;
  • Organizing walking tours and evening dinners;
  • Coordinating all travel arrangements for participants, speakers, and partners.

This scope illustrates TMAB's role as an end-to-end event partner, featuring an integrated approach ranging from strategic preparation to rigorous operational execution on-site, always with a strong focus on service, flow, and attendee experience.
